Meet the Founders

Gertie and Babs Spice and Provision Co. is a company based in Charlotte, North Carolina, that offers a vast selection of handcrafted spice blends. It is owned and operated by a couple who share a passion for food and the culinary arts.

Our Story

We started what would eventually become our business not too long after we got married. Mrs. Gertie and Babs and I were the last of our families to tie the knot on both sides by a few years, so when it came to giving for the holidays, we faced that age-old question of “What do you give to those family members who basically have everything?”

Year one started with a homemade hot sauce, and years two and three added a spice or two, all of them bearing the name “Gertie and Babs.” Our rationale was if you received these, you either knew Gertie or knew Babs.

After a few more years and some changes in how the world works, we decided to make the move to share our products with the world.

It’s All in the Name

Gertie and Babs are actually our mothers, and before you ask, yes, they are a little excited and probably a little indifferent about their likenesses being shared all over the world.
Proud ladies from Buffalo and Cleveland, and memories of a happy childhood go in each and every bottle.

Our Mission

Our mission is to provide quality handmade products as fresh and as fragrant as possible while striving to lend a motivational hand to those afraid of cooking, including the backyard celebrity chefs looking to expand their reach.
